Finger Placement & Home Keys

Learn which of your 10 fingers is in charge of each key column.

Step 1: Learn the Concept

In touch typing, all 10 fingers have a special home base and assigned territory. Left hand fingers control A, S, D, F and right hand fingers control J, K, L, ;. Check our Which Finger Types Which Key Guide for complete column mappings.

Step 2: See How It Works (Hands & Fingers Map)

Place your left index finger on F and your right index finger on J. Feel the tiny raised plastic bumps? Those bumps tell you that your fingers are in the correct home position without looking down!
